Wow, this is what this 'simple question' is gonna devolve into. Upgrade should have been free and not a diffrent game with split community. As simple as just changing the placement of enemies.

But they decided to make it a diffrent game so they could milk more because they knew people would pay to not miss out from a simple things. Dx11 players should have been able to play with dx9 also. It shouldnt split online gameplay. It was technically possible to make the upgrade optional so if a person with dx11 wanted to play on dx11 that would have been fine.

Originalmente postado por BFG10K:DirectX is just a graphic API. Also as a last note in terms of online play, both versions have kept a steady pace over the last week of about 3000 people online, 3000 online for the old DS2 was the norm, so nothing has really changed and you're not missing out on anything. So what's the issue? If you've got the money to buy a game you should be responsible for what you pay for, not go blamming the devs that you want to buy two of their products.

Besides, no one is forcing you to buy the DX11 version later, no one is forcing you to buy the DX9 version now. Also the enemy placement is just that, different, I personally find the new one better, most people have from what I've seen, that being said, there's nothign really wrong with the old placements, it was still a fun game and nothing lore-wise has changed so basically it's just DS2 and DS2+ The community split is unfortunate but from what I've seen of the changes unavoidable. They said this and to be honest I believe them over it, I know plenty of single player games that let you chose the DX version you want to play with, but no multiplayer ones, this one at least gives you the option to have it work for your hardware, if they just upgraded to DX11 so many people that only have DX9 compatible hardware would be pissed. The two versions were incompatable for online play. So you need to buy both of them if you wanna enjoy every content. Some people may like the first some the second. Its just diffrent and that is subjective. Also new enemy placements/AI is diffrent in those games. Charging for something that should have been in the first place is also their fault. Splitting online community is the developers fault only. But I also dont wanna play a game when there is no one else to play with anymore. Originalmente postado por BFG10K:I intend on upgrading.
